Other facts about Doran at 10 months old.
He weighs about 20 pounds.
He loves to eat. Lots. His favorite foods are meat, green beans, peas, cheerios, and cheese (he's my son!). He doesn't like to eat foods that are mushy: apples, peaches, and bananas. He will eat those when I put them in his boon, so maybe doesn't like the feel of them. He will rarely eat baby food anymore. In addition to meals, he nurses at 8, 12, 4, and 8. Doran is a happy baby, except when it comes to night time. He is still waking up 1-2 times a night. Sometimes I can get him to go to sleep without nursing; but most of the time, I can't. We've tried most of the sleep training methods: crying and non crying. We bought a sound machine. We have a night time routine. Every night I go to bed thinking, "Maybe tonight will be the night Doran sleeps." One day.
Doran is such a social person. He loves to say hello (flap his arms, kick his legs) to people we see on our walks and at the grocery store. People always stop us and say, "He is such a happy baby" or "He's so excited to see me."
His favorite color is blue. He has 6 little balls, different colors, and he takes the blue one around with him everywhere. He finds blue in other things too.
His favorite activity is to put objects inside things. He has a dinosaur toy that works great for this activity. But, he also loves putting objects in shoes and kitchen containers.
Doran is very good at sharing. His toys, his binkey, his food. He especially thinks sharing is funny when it is something that babies do, like putting his binkey in our mouth. He also likes to feed us, but usually tries to take it back. He's already a tease.
He is very aware of his surroundings and has excellent hearing.
He loves it when his Daddy comes home. He is getting really good at understanding. Sometimes I'll hear the car horn honk and so I'll tell Doran, "Daddy's home!" He'll get really excited and look towards the door before Devin even gets home. If I don't pre-warn him, he gets excited just hearing the door open. He knows it's his Dad.
He has 5 1/2 teeth now (3 on top plus one taking forever to come in and 2 on bottom) and loves to brush his teeth, which means he sucks water from his tooth brush and then gnaws on it.
He loves to sing and hum whenever he hears music. It's cute. Sometimes he even hums with me as I sing him a song before bed. Occasionally he rocks back and forth as he sings.
Doran hangs out in the kitchen with me a lot. He has his own set of measuring cups and measuring spoons. The other day, I gave him some cheerios while I was doing the dishes. A little while later, he was at my feet trying to put his dish in the dishwasher. What a good little helper.
