Doran's First picnic!

Doran and I went to a beach park today. He is still afraid of the sand, but he would dig in it with a shovel if he was sitting on the towel.

Then we had our first picnic. Peanut butter and jelly, of course. He thought it was fun. As we sat and ate, he waved and blew kisses to everyone walking on the trail.

After eating and changing, he discovered there were rocks close by. His new favorite.

Quack Quack

If it isn't raining, and we don't have errands to run, Doran and I like to go on a morning walk to feed the ducks. It is 1.6 miles round trip, so it is good for both of us. We walk to the ducks, feed them, and then stop at the park to play on our way home.

He loves the ducks. The last few times we've been there, some of the ducks have been on the dock. He gets down on his hands and knees and quacks with them. He likes being a duck!

This is my favorite pictures of the ducks.

We see this little girl at the ducks regularly. We need to learn Chinese so that we can talk to her.

Egg Hunt 2014

Doran got to do an big Easter egg hunt with the Hill Great Grandchildren at Grandma and Grandpa Hill's house. I think it was good for him to do a hunt with so many other little kids, because it helped him catch on to the excitement, and that he was supposed to find more than just one egg. At first, he just wanted to pick up one egg, and sit down to open it. By the end, I was throwing eggs out of his bag a few feet in front of him to "find" because he liked it so much.

Playing in his egg stash!

He learned how to say chocolate after Easter. It's cute.

2014 Easter Outfit

#BecauseofHim I know that our little family will be together after death. We had a great Easter weekend. It is such a wonderful time to celebrate the Savior's resurrection and it's purpose in our lives. Here is a family picture of us on Easter

And an overload of pictures of our cute little man.

This is actually my favorite picture of him in his outfit (part of it, at least!) Love that smile.

Aquarium with Shay and Brad

ShayLee and Brad were in the Seattle wedding this weekend and Doran and I got to go downtown Seattle to hang out with them. It was so good to spend time with Shay and get to know her husband Brad better.

First, we went to the aquarium. I hadn't been to the Seattle aquarium yet, it was fun.

Brad and ShayLee with Doran.

After the aquarium, we headed over and grabbed some fish and chips from Ivars and then went to Pike's Place (of course!)

I love this picture they took of Doran and I on the famous pig. Thanks Shay!

Doran and I went home and ShayLee and Brad went on an Argosy cruise, then we had them over to our house for dinner. Matt came down that weekend to go apartment shopping so he was able to see Shay too!

Matt took a picture of all of us, but I need to get it from Shay still!

Hunting For Eggs at the Edde's

2 weeks before Easter, we went down to visit my family for the weekend. It was conference weekend and with all that praying, Doran got better and better at folding his arms for the prayer. It is one of the cutest things we have taught him. When the prayer is done, his version of Amen is "ahhh!"

He had a fun time playing in the tent, with Grandma's toys, and riding in the race car.

We also did a little Easter Egg hunt for him. I bought him some Easter, chocolate covered raisins to be his jelly beans and my Mom bough him some sweet gold fish.

First Hair Cut

Doran's hair was getting very long, but Devin and I just couldn't cut it! We just wanted him to stay our baby forever. Something about cutting their hair makes babies seem so much older. Once it got to the point his hair came down past his eyes, we decided we better cut it. Poor kid, he couldn't see. We just used the flowbee (yes, we have a flowbee) and gave it a little trim.

I still haven't taken an after picture and it is already grown a lot! But, these are the before pictures.

Doran almost died today.

I was working on the computer this morning and Doran was playing in the same room. He walked over to me and seemed distressed. His mouth was moving funny. It took me a second to catch on that he was chocking. I picked him up and tried to scoop inside. Nothing. He was really starting to panic. But he wasn't coughing or breathing. His face was turning red. I pounded on his back. Nothing. I started to panic, but luckily my brain kicked in, if I didn't get whatever was stuck out, he was going to die. I switched him around and put his stomach on my leg and pounded his back. It took a while and I was terrified that it wasn't working. I thought about going to find my phone to call 911, but decided to keep trying. Finally, he started to gag. Terrifying, but a good sign. I kept pounding and he kept coughing and gagging and whining. It wouldn't come out.

But it went down.

He coughed for a few minutes after and cried and kept touching his throat in and the inside of his mouth. Then, he was fine. I called the nurse and she said to bring him in because I had no idea what it was that he swallowed. I knew it wasn't food though.

We're still not 100% sure what it is, but the doctor says it looks like a quarter. I have no idea where he got it from. We'll find out in 2-3 days. I will be deep cleaning my house this weekend. On the search for anything small.

I've been an emotional wreck all day. I know he's okay, but I know that he really could have died. I'm so thankful to have my little baby.

Quick visit and a trip to the park.

My parents made a quick stop at our house and the way to pick Preston up from college. We did a few of Doran's favorite things with them: feed the ducks, play at the park, and chase bubbles.

This is Doran at the ducks. He loves dropping bread into the water.

Grandparents are so much fun!

My Mom would blow the bubbles with the wand and my Dad and Doran would chase them around and pop them with a stick.
