Summer Vacation

I'm a little behind in posting, but in August Devin and I took a trip out to Cokeville to visit his family. It was a nice, relaxing vacation and we really enjoyed spending time with family.

We went skunk hunting with Matthew, Kalen, and Trevor and even I shot a skunk!

Tana and Janae were nice enough to take me out to feed the baby calves. Devin made fun of me though because I was too chicken to let the calve suck my hands.

M+E Wedding Weekend

We had a great time back in July for Matt and Emilie's wedding! It was so fun to see family! We did lots of fun sight seeing.

Take me out to the ball game!

On Monday, the owner of the Dealership I work at gave me tickets to that night's mariner's game! They were awesome seats in the first row of the Terrace Club, right behind home plate! We had a great time and fully enjoyed the baseball experience! There's something about a hot dog that just taste better at a baseball game!

2:30 am Wake up call

Last weekend, Devin and I were woken up to a blaring fire alarm. At first, we were sleepy and hoping it was just a short, false alarm. We were slowly getting up until we heard panicked voices outside. We got dressed a little faster and went outside to find out what was going on.

Our building was on fire! 4 units down from us, on our floor. And everyone said it was spreading. We knew we were further away so we went back up to our apartment, put on warmer clothes, grabbed our cell phones, wallets and car keys and went to join everyone else outside.

It was started by a cigaret butt. The person that started the fire tried to put it out with the extinguishers, but after going through 4 it didn't work. Other people from our building told him not to go in anymore and that it was too dangerous. I'm glad he tried though, because I think it helped it from spreading more.

Three fire trucks and their crew showed up to put out the fire. I think they got the fire out quickly, but it took them a while to get everything wrapped up. We weren't cleared to go back into our apartment until around 4:30.

Since we were so tired though, we did take a sick day!

Sunny Days

When sunny days come around in the pacific northwest, you have to take advantage of them. These pictures are from 2 weeks ago when we went to a park close by and enjoyed the sunshine.

Tulip Festival

Last weekend, Devin and I went up to the Tulip festival. It started out as a nice, sunny day! The flowers were gorgeous.

After the tulip festival, we decided to take the scenic route back instead of taking the freeway. We headed over to Deception's Pass. It is a bridge that connects the main land to Whidbey Island. We drove the island all the way back and then took the ferry back into Mukilteo (right above Seattle). Our camera died, so there aren't any pictures of our first ferry ride with our car.

I'm Walking on Sunshine, woooah!

Here are some of our pictures to Roatan, Honduras. Don't worry, I didn't know where it was at either. It is a small island in the Caribbean.

We had a great trip! We are certainly going to miss the sunshine.

Winter Weather

The thing about getting snow in the NW is that it doesn't stay cold enough for it to be snow for very long. This happened to us. We did just fine going to work in the snow, but over the night and Wednesday, it started to melt. Then the melted slush froze. We woke up on Thursday for work and noticed that it hadn't snowed any more than the day before so we headed out for work. That's when it got a little icy. There was a sheet of ice covering the truck. It took a while to get the door open, let alone thaw the whole thing. Freezing rain was coming down so until the truck heated up, scrapping wasn't very effective as the rain just kept freezing to the window. Realizing that we were going to be late for work, I called my boss to let her know that we were iced in and that it would be a while before we got to work. That's when I found out my work didn't have power. More than 27,000 homes/business were with out power - for over 24 hours!

Devin and I were very lucky to have power the entire time. It was out everywhere around us. Our home teacher called to check on us and told us that the water might be going to back up generator power. We realized a few things from this expereince.

-The church has an awesome communication line. We received 2 phone calls just after the Elders Quorum president asked everyone to check on the people the home teach. There are always people there to help.
-We don't have enough  food that is non perishable and doesn't require cooking.
-We also need to have a better supply of water. Since the water was still on, we filled up every water bottle we had and the tub. We filled the tub so we could use that water to flush the toilet. Devin's a genius.

We didn't end up losing power or water, but we were prepared! I feel bad for everyone that was without power for over 24 hours though.

Devin went back to work today, but my work was still without power. The snow has all melted off the trees now and the ground is just a slushy mess. Now they're just telling us to watch out for flooding. Good thing we're on the 3rd floor.

We're really behind, so I thought I'd catch up a little bit.

New Years
On New Years Eve, Eve I had a Harry Potter Party an invited my Young Women over. It was fun. The Butterbeer looks good, but it didn't turn out so well.

Yes, we even had wands. I had been saving that stick for a very long time! Devin kept telling me to throw it out, but I knew it would make a perfect wand. Don't worry, he gave up after a few months.


Christmas
The week before Christmas, we went to Bellevue Square Mall to see the drumer boys perform. We also met Rudolph the Red Nose Reiendeer, got candy cane flavored tootsie pops, and they made it "snow" (foam bubbles)

For Christmas, we headed down to Vancouver to hang out with my family. Jeff and Ally came up from Utah and Matt and Emilie were home from Idaho. It was fun to have the whole family together again for Christmas, it had been a while.

Thanksgiving
In November, we made a last minute drive down to Cokeville and surprised everyone for Thanksgiving. We left here at 4:00pm and drove all through the night. We were tired, but it was worth it. All of Devin's siblings, except for Nathan, were there so it was a lot of fun (we invited him to make the drive with us, but he thought it was too long. Can't blame him, it WAS long).

We even got to be there for all the grand-kids getting their pictures taken in their Christmas outfits.  They're cute kids and certainly keep us all entertained.

Halloween
For our ward Halloween party, Devin and I went as "Pasty White Seattle-ites" Only some people thought it was funny... sadly, we didn't stand out that much.

I also made eyeball oreo balls, which I thought was really fun! They were a hit.

We also went to a Western Murder Mystery Dinner, where we were the investigators. 

Devin looks more like Mario than a cowboy, he just needs a red hat. And mine is upside down. I didn't realize until just now... haha, how embarrassing.
